The Department of Psychology and Social Work recently held a series of activities in the Psychology and Social Work Week. We specially invited Pin-Hau Chen, a psychologist who graduated from the National Chengchi University, to give a lecture. He introduced how emotions are aroused and how to deal with them in humorous and intelligible ways. Chen emphasized that emotions come without choices, and the "White Bear Suppression" reveals this. There are four tips we can do: "LEAP: listen, empathy, agree, parther". At last, he mentioned that "emotion" is only the result. Emotional distress can be resolved by recognizing the reasons arousing emotions. The students responded enthusiastically to the lecturer's questions, and through good interaction, everyone gained a lot.
